Aleks Sennwald started out in Colombia, but spent formative years in Italy, Switzerland, and France.

The first thing she recalls drawing was a pair of red shoes so real, she knocked her own socks off. Today, her illustrations originate somewhere in the northeastern U.S., in a book-lined room on a tree-lined street.
